Before choosing the route, the most crucial thing to think about is how you reach Da Nang. The fastest vehicle is an aircraft, which makes you less exhausted, compared to other transport. Also, the airport offers shuttle buses between Da Nang International Airport and the city center; thus, you don't have to worry about catching a vehicle on your own.
If you take a train or a bus to Hoi An, you have to get on a bus to reach the railway station or bus station in Da Nang. The railway station is situated near the town center; nonetheless, the bus station is just behind the airport, about 5 kilometers from the center.
In case your schedule contains a few days exploring Da Nang, you should find vehicles departs from the city or use the transport of the hotel (if available). I recommend you download Grab App (similar to Uber in America) to book a taxi or motorbike taxi so that you can depart at any time you want to.
The Time you Stay in Hoi An
The number of days you will stay in Hoi An also plays an essential role in selecting the means of transport. Will you spend only the day time in Hoi An and come back to Da Nang at night? Or are you intending to discover the land for several days?
In my opinion, you should spend one to two nights in the town. The reason is that the day time in Hoi An is quite hot, notably in the middle of the day, and the streets are full of travelers. Therefore, if you go out at night or in the early morning, the pleasant atmosphere and empty streets will help your sightseeing more enjoyable. Additionally, there are a large number of fascinating things to explore, so you need to spend at least two days doing all the things you desire.
If Hoi An does not take much time in your journey, a day trip to the ancient town is not a bad idea. Under this circumstance, you had better hire a private car or a taxi, which will save more time than getting on a bus. However, the fare is a bit higher.
Those who come to Hoi An for the first time can participate in a packaged tour with a guide. In this way, they can widen their knowledge and have time for worth-visiting places, also avoid tourist traps, as the experienced guide are able to arrange these things well.
